Gaucho Fan Knot - firestarter handle

#1by Darren » Wed Nov 18, 2015 11:51 pm

After sitting on my leather for some time I finally decided it was no good sitting there doing nothing soooo.

Bushcraft Ferrocium Rod handles. I used a 10mm rod and made a handle from a 12mm diameter piece of pine dowel drilled. The. Epoxy the rod into the dowel and let it dry.

I then braided the lanyards from the Roo leather and using the inner core strands from 550 Paracord I tied the lanyard onto the side of the dowel. This give the finished handle a slightly oval finish.

Finally I tied the leather knot and the rest you all know!

I like em....

Love the design, fire-rod, braiding and knots - to my personal taste, the thimble is out of proportion to everything else - too large. would still function with a smaller more proportioned thimble. Just my opinion - great work though - glad you like the Roo - thank you for sharing
