Does anybody have/know of a good tutorial/instructions for this? I've only been able to find a YouTube video, but I usually work better from still pictures and words.

I believe there is instructions for it in Bruce Grant's Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding. Plate 90 maybe?
